Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 4, 2026
Our commitment: Geaux River does not sell personal information, does not display third-party advertising, and does not use personal information for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising. Customer business data is protected according to customer permissions and agreements.
This Privacy Policy explains how Geaux River Corporation ("Geaux River," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when an authorized user accesses the Geaux River mobile application and the related cloud services made available through the application (collectively, the "Services").
The Services are designed primarily for maritime companies, vessel and barge operators, fleet managers, dispatchers, facilities, service providers, and their authorized personnel. If your account is provided by your employer or another organization, that organization may control your access to the Services and the business records associated with your account.
1. Geaux River and Customer Organizations
For information that Geaux River collects for its own business purposes, Geaux River is responsible for the practices described in this Privacy Policy. For information submitted to the Services by or for a customer organization ("Customer Data"), Geaux River generally processes that information on the customer’s behalf and according to the customer’s instructions, configuration, contract, and applicable law.
A customer organization may determine which users receive access, what operational information is entered or connected, how long records are retained, and which other authorized users can view those records. Questions about an organization’s internal use of Customer Data should first be directed to that organization’s administrator.
2. Information We Collect
Account and business contact information
We may collect a user’s name, business email address, business telephone number, employer or affiliated organization, job title or role, account identifier, authentication information, access permissions, and similar information needed to create, secure, and administer an account.
Operational and maritime information
Depending on the customer’s configuration and the features a user is authorized to access, the Services may process:
Vessel, barge, tow, fleet, facility, and asset identifiers;
AIS messages, GPS positions, routes, movement history, geofence events, and related timestamps;
Tow configurations, cargo information, draft and depth information, dispatch records, maintenance information, inspections, compliance records, forms, logs, checklists, and alerts;
Crew or personnel information entered by a customer organization;
Documents, photographs, messages, notes, voice requests, transcripts, or other content a user chooses to submit through an enabled feature; and
Information received from Geaux River hardware, customer equipment, AIS receivers, vessel or barge tracking devices, integrated systems, authorized data providers, and public maritime sources.
Device, network, and usage information
We may collect the device type, operating system and version, app version, IP address, network information, push-notification token, language and time zone, login and access events, feature interactions, diagnostic information, crash reports, and security logs. We use this information to operate, secure, support, and improve the Services.
Device location
If an enabled feature uses the location of the iPhone or iPad, the application will request permission through Apple’s location controls. Depending on the feature and the permission selected, the Services may receive precise or approximate device location while the application is in use. A feature that requires background location will request that permission separately through iOS. Device-location permission can be changed at any time in the device’s Settings. Disabling location may limit features that depend on the user’s current position.
Camera, photos, files, microphone, and notifications
When an enabled feature requires access to the camera, photo library, files, or microphone, the application will request permission before access. We receive only the content a user chooses to capture, select, upload, or communicate. Users can change these permissions through iOS Settings. Push notifications can also be disabled through the device’s notification settings.
Support and communications
We collect the information a user provides when requesting support, reporting an issue, responding to a survey, requesting a demonstration, or otherwise communicating with Geaux River. This may include contact information, correspondence, screenshots, diagnostic files, and information needed to investigate the request.
3. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
Create, authenticate, administer, and secure user accounts;
Provide vessel and barge tracking, mapping, fleet visibility, operational records, alerts, analytics, reporting, communication, and other configured features;
Display information to the customer organization and other users authorized by that organization;
Operate integrations with customer systems, Geaux River hardware, mapping services, AIS sources, and other authorized data sources;
Respond to support requests and communicate about service, security, account, and product matters;
Monitor availability, troubleshoot errors, prevent misuse, investigate security events, and protect users, customers, Geaux River, and others;
Improve the performance, usability, reliability, and functionality of the Services;
Enforce customer agreements and other applicable terms; and
Comply with law, valid legal process, regulatory obligations, and lawful requests from public authorities.
4. Customer Data Isolation, Shared Network Data, and AI
Nonpublic Customer Data is maintained within the customer’s authorized environment and is made available according to that customer’s permissions and agreements. Geaux River does not disclose one customer’s nonpublic business records to another customer unless the originating customer authorizes the disclosure or the disclosure is required by law.
Certain information may be designated as shared network data by the nature of the information, the applicable product, or the customer agreement. Examples may include AIS transmissions, vessel or asset positions, river-condition measurements, depth observations, weather information, public records, and aggregated or deidentified network observations. Shared network data may be combined across authorized sources to provide coverage, safety, mapping, analytics, and other data services.
If a customer enables artificial intelligence or machine-learning features, Geaux River may process that customer’s authorized data to provide responses, recommendations, automation, or analytics within that customer’s environment. Geaux River does not use one customer’s nonpublic Customer Data to train models for, or disclose it to, another customer. Geaux River does not use nonpublic Customer Data to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models unless the customer separately authorizes that use in writing.
5. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
Customer organizations and authorized users. Information may be made available to the organization that provides or administers the account and to users authorized by that organization.
Service providers. We may use providers for cloud hosting, authentication, mapping and geospatial services, push notifications, communications, analytics, crash reporting, security, support, and other technical operations. We require service providers that receive user data to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy, applicable contracts, and applicable law.
Integrations and data partners. At a customer’s direction or as required to provide a configured feature, we may exchange information with customer systems, hardware providers, AIS or mapping providers, and other authorized integration partners.
Legal, safety, and security matters. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect rights or property, prevent fraud or abuse, respond to an emergency, or protect the safety of users or the public.
Business transactions. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.
With permission. We may disclose information for another purpose when the customer organization or affected user directs or authorizes us to do so.
Geaux River does not sell personal information for money, does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not use third-party advertising networks in the application.
Geaux River may create, use, disclose, license, or commercialize aggregated, deidentified, or nonpersonal maritime information and derived analytics that do not reasonably identify an individual or reveal a customer’s nonpublic business records. We maintain deidentified information in deidentified form and do not attempt to reidentify it, except as permitted by law to test whether deidentification methods are effective.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, follow customer instructions and contractual retention settings, maintain security and audit records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, insurance, or regulatory obligations.
Retention periods vary by the type of information and the customer’s configuration. Customer Data is generally retained during the customer relationship and then deleted or returned according to the customer agreement and applicable backup cycles, unless continued retention is required by law. Account, support, security, and transaction records may be retained after account closure when reasonably necessary for legitimate business or legal purposes.
When information is deleted, it may remain for a limited period in protected backups or archives until those systems are overwritten or the applicable retention period expires. We may retain aggregated or deidentified information that no longer reasonably identifies an individual.
7. Privacy Choices and Requests
Depending on applicable law, a user may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, and may have the right to object to or restrict certain processing. Geaux River does not discriminate against a user for exercising an applicable privacy right.
To submit a privacy request, email Support@GeauxRiver.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” Please describe the request and identify the customer organization associated with the account. We may need to verify the requester’s identity and authority before completing the request.
For an account provisioned and controlled by a customer organization, Geaux River may refer the request to that organization or coordinate with its administrator. The organization may need to preserve certain business or regulatory records even after an individual user’s access is removed.
Geaux River accounts are generally provisioned by customer organizations rather than created by individual users in the mobile application. If a version of the application permits a user to create an account directly, that version will provide a way for the user to initiate deletion of the account from within the application.
Users can withdraw device permissions, including location, camera, microphone, photo, and notification permissions, through iOS Settings. Users may opt out of nonessential marketing email by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us. Service, security, and account communications may still be sent when necessary to operate the Services.
8. Security
Geaux River uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, acquisition, use, alteration, and disclosure. These safeguards may include access controls, authentication, encryption, monitoring, logging, backups, customer-level permissions, and security procedures appropriate to the nature of the information.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting their credentials, using secure devices and networks, and promptly notifying Geaux River or their organization’s administrator of suspected unauthorized access.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Services are business tools intended for authorized professional users and are not directed to children under 13. Geaux River does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the application. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. United States Operations and International Transfers
Geaux River is based in the United States, and the Services are currently intended primarily for United States operations. Information may be processed and stored in the United States and in other locations where our service providers operate. Those locations may have data-protection laws different from those of the user’s jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Services, technology, law, or our data practices. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date. When required by law, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a material change takes effect.
